Based in Christchurch
Commencing Term 1, 2020
Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu (Te Kura) is New Zealand's largest school. We provide personalised and authentic learning programmes through distance education from early childhood level to NCEA Level 3, including young adult and adult learners.
We are leaders in online pedagogical approaches and innovative in ways that engage students and connect with them to achieve their educational and personal goals. Kaiako and leadership staff at Te Kura work collaboratively and have opportunities to access professional learning and development to support their professional goals and Te Kura strategic and regional initiatives.
The Southern region is seeking an experienced educator and leader who will have responsibilities for liaising with teachers, learning support staff and external stakeholders that support our diverse learners (including High and Very High ORS) across the region. This position will be pivotal in supporting our team in providing targeted, tailored and responsive support for our “students at risk” and “students with diverse learning needs”.
It is essential that you have experience in leading others, facilitating and navigating complexity and can model effective teaching practices within school settings. You will need to be willing to learn, innovate, work collaboratively and build effective relationships.
In this role you will be able to work with a range of stakeholders internally and externally to build our capacity and capability to meet the needs of diverse and at-risk learners. You will be responsible for co-ordinating regional resources and monitoring our “at risk” register.
A team of staff that provide specialist support to our learners across the region will report to you in this role.
A full induction and support programme is available along with opportunities to engage with staff across the region and the wider school. Other responsibilities may be negotiated with the Regional Manager.
You'll be future orientated and understand how the use of technology, together with your enthusiasm, vision and commitment improves education outcomes for all our students, Maori and Pasifika learners in particular.
