FTE 1.0 (40 Hours per week, this will be split as 0.6 Resource Developer and 0.4 Kaiako)

Teaching at Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu
At Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu (Te Kura), our Kaiako engage with ākonga both online and face-to-face. As part of the role, you will facilitate Huinga Ako (Learning Advisories) once a week, alongside working closely with colleagues in our regional offices. We also provide flexible working options, allowing up to two days per week of work-from-home arrangements.
Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this position
We're looking for a passionate and innovative Kaiako with expertise in Legal Studies to both teach and refresh and develop NCEA Level 1, 2, and 3 modules delivering the Legal Studies curriculum. You'll join our team based in one of our regional office.
Dedicated support will be provided from within the Curriculum Wāhanga for curriculum development. We will aim for this position to be in place for term 3 and 4, 2025.
As a Kaiako you'll:
- Design and deliver personalised, authentic learning programmes tailored to the strengths and needs of ākonga
- Facilitate weekly Huinga Ako, guiding and supporting students through their educational journeys
- Collaborate with colleagues and interact with students online and in person to foster meaningful learning experiences
The position of contract Legal Studies NCEA online curriculum writer includes:
- Developing the content to deliver the teaching and learning for Legal Studies across NCEA Level 1-3
- Connection and collaboration with the rōpu and Kaiako Matua throughout the development process
- Developing activities that promote learner agency and confidence in applying existing and new learning
- Adhere to the Te Kura curriculum development process
- Liaison with the project team through all stages of the development process

You are a creative and forward-thinking educator who thrives on providing authentic learning experiences for akonga. You will:
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum and current assessment practices.
- Model innovative, future-focused pedagogies that engage and inspire ākonga.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with ākonga, whānau, and colleagues.
- You will understand the Legal Studies, have recent experience teaching Legal Studies in New Zealand schools, and be comfortable and familiar with expectations of NZCR including interweaving mātauranga Māori, literacy, numeracy, and key competencies.
