Can be based in one of Te Kura regional offices located in: Wellington, Palmerston North, Masterton, New Plymouth, Hastings, Rotorua, Gisborne, Wairoa, Tauranga, Hamilton, Auckland, Whangarei, Nelson, Christchurch, Dunedin, Invercargill or Queenstown

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this position
The Leaving to Learn program is designed to give ākonga meaningful, hands-on experiences that connect academic learning with real-world application.
We're looking for a Kaiako who is eager to bring curriculum to life through partnerships, opportunities and experiences. In this role, you will work with ākonga, whānau and kaimahi to explore, reflect, and grow in unique and engaging environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Look after the following portfolios: Iti Rearea | Te Kura Representatives, Leaving to Learn Competitions, He Whai Taumaru teina – Leaving to Learn Yrs 0-10, Whai Wāhi Hākinakina | Kiwisport and waka experiences, Ngā Amorangi | Ākonga Leadership and voices.
- Design and facilitate with key groups of kaimahi in connecting learning experiences that align with curriculum goals.
- Contribute towards the local team environment and development of Leaving to Learn.
- Guide students in setting personal learning goals, reflecting on their experiences, and connecting their work to future aspirations.
- Create an inclusive, supportive learning environment that encourages exploration and personal growth.

- New Zealand teacher registration and a current practising certificate.
- Passionate about ākonga-centred learning and experiences.
- Skilled in building and maintaining community connections across and within teams.
- Experienced in providing termly reports on all portfolio areas.
- Strong communicator and relationship-builder with a commitment to fostering ākonga agency.
