2026 Curriculum Development – English Phase 1–4 (Y1-10)
Up to 2 x Full-time (1.0 FTE) (up to 40 hours per week, hours negotiable)
Fixed term: April – December 2026
Based in any Te Kura location: Wellington, Palmerston North, Masterton, New Plymouth, Hastings, Rotorua, Gisborne, Wairoa, Tauranga, Hamilton, Auckland, Whangarei, Nelson, Christchurch, Dunedin, Invercargill or Queenstown
Te Kura is seeking experienced kaiako to join our Curriculum Wāhanga as English Phase 1–4 Resource Developers. These fixed-term roles will focus on refreshing, aligning, and developing high-quality English resources to support early and middle phases of learning.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to nationally significant curriculum work and help shape how English is taught and learned.
Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this position
Working as part of a collaborative curriculum development team, you will contribute to the alignment and development of online English resources for Phase 1–4. The work will focus on ensuring resources are:
- Review and refresh current resources to align with the new curriculum
- Inclusive, accessible, and engaging for diverse ākonga
- Supportive of clear progression across phases
You will be well supported by curriculum and project leadership within the Curriculum Wāhanga throughout the term of the project.

Ko koe tēnei | About you
Registered kaiako (teacher) with a current teacher's practicing certificate who bring:
- Recent teaching experience in New Zealand primary or intermediate settings, with strength in English Phase 1–4
- Familiarity with Te Mātaiaho / the New Zealand Curriculum Refresh, including:
- Integration of mātauranga Māori
- Connections to key capabilities and broader curriculum learning
- The ability to design clear, engaging, and inclusive learning resources that respond to the diverse needs, identities, and contexts of ākonga
- Strong written communication skills and attention to pedagogical detail
