We're seeking passionate Numeracy Intervention Specialists who believe in the transformative power of numeracy.
You'll deliver targeted, high-impact support to learners in Years 6–13—working online, either synchronously or asynchronously, one-on-one or in small groups. Your mission: provide intensive, wrap-around interventions that accelerate progress, build confidence, and unlock potential.
What's on offer?
- 7 positions: Numeracy Intervention Specialists
- Fixed Term: 28 January to December 2027
- FTE: 1.0 (40 hours per week preferred, part-time will also be considered)
- Location: Any Te Kura office nationwide
- Flexible work options: Up to 2 days working from home per week
About the role
As a change-maker in this role, you'll empower ākonga to unlock the transformative power of numeracy and build confidence in their own abilities. Working online—both synchronously and asynchronously—you'll provide tailored support one-on-one or in small groups. Through a three-tiered framework, you'll deliver intensive, wrap-around interventions that accelerate learning and create meaningful progress.
Across focused blocks of 6 to 24 weeks, you'll use diagnostic insights to design and teach personalised programmes that meet each learner where they are and take them further than they imagined. Your work will not only build essential numeracy skills but also ignite a sense of achievement and possibility that lasts well beyond the learning.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and delivering numeracy acceleration courses
- Using data to track and support ākonga progress
- Facilitating Huinga Ako (Learning Advisories) weekly
- Collaborating with colleagues and whānau to ensure success

- Current NZ teacher registration and practising certificate
- Expertise in accelerated numeracy learning approaches
- Strong skills in data-informed teaching
- Ability to engage and inspire ākonga and whānau
- Deep understanding of the NZ Curriculum
Why join Te Kura?
- Professional growth in a dynamic, supportive environment
- Flexible working arrangements
- The chance to make a meaningful impact on learners' lives
