FTE 1.0 (40 Hours per week)
Preferred location Rotorua, but can be based in Hamilton or Tauranga

Teaching at Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu
Kaiako at Te Kura engage with our ākonga online and face-to-face at huinga ako (advisories) and events, and also work onsite with colleagues in our regional offices. Te Kura aims to provide flexible working arrangements, so Kaiako are able to request to work from home for up to two days per week.
Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this position:
We are looking for a creative, innovative Kaiako (teacher) who's an expert in Pathways Education and/or Business Enterprise Studies, to join our team in Rotorua, but also could be based in Hamilton or Tauranga.
It's an exciting time at Te Kura as we continue to innovate and transform the way we provide distance learning. In our online environment, we work with the latest technologies and are constantly growing in this space.
We're forward thinking and do things a little differently, but that doesn't mean no student contact! You'll interact with students at advisories, communicate with them using online tools and guide a group of students as their Learning Advisor. We are committed to seeing you grow with us and development opportunities often crop up within the school.

You are interested in authentic learning; you model current pedagogy and are always coming up with new ideas. You're enthusiastic, collaborative, understand the key competencies of the New Zealand curriculum assessment practice and are committed to improving education outcomes for students.
The experience/skills/qualities we would like the preferred candidate to bring into this role are:
- Strength and passion for pastoral care of diverse ākonga
- Ability to foster positive relationships with colleagues, ākonga and their whānau
- Experience with NCEA, preferably delivering and assessing unit standards
- Interest and/or experience in careers education and transition to work
- May suit someone from a primary teaching background with secondary experience
- Full drivers licence
- Curiosity, willingness to learn
