Chief Financial Officer Permanent, Full-Time (40 hours per week | 1.0 FTE) Wellington-based
Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu (Te Kura) is seeking an experienced and strategic financial leader to guide the financial functions of our kura (school), following the departure of our current Manager, Finance.
As Chief Financial Officer (CFO), you will hold responsibility for the entire financial management, accounting, and reporting functions of Te Kura. The role also has responsibility and oversight of Te Kura Facilities Management Team, which includes a property portfolio of 16 offices around Aotearoa New Zealand.
You will provide financial analysis and strategic insights, ensuring robust financial planning supports the long-term sustainability of Te Kura. You will lead our Finance and Facilities team while working closely with executive leadership, the Board, and external auditors to maintain best practices in financial governance.
This is a pivotal role, ensuring Te Kura operates efficiently within the constraints of a variable revenue stream. You will identify and implement best financial practices, contribute to strategic and business planning activities—including benchmarking, performance monitoring, and stakeholder engagement.
Reporting directly to the Deputy Chief Executive, Systems and Support, we are looking for someone who brings:
- A minimum of five years of senior leadership experience in financial management.
- A proven track record in overseeing audits and ensuring financial compliance.
- Full CA membership with NZICA or CPA Australia.
- The ability to assess financial risk, emerging technologies, and integrate best practices.
- The understanding and appreciation to integrate Māori values and principles into our business practices, ensuring that our financial decisions reflect our commitment to cultural inclusivity and sustainability.
- A strong capability to provide strategic financial counsel in support of new business ventures.
- A meticulous eye for detail, sound judgment, and problem-solving expertise.
- Strong interpersonal relationship skills and able to manage conversations that require strategic thought leadership.
