We are seeking a Project Manager, Curriculum Development to support the delivery of projects within Te Kura's Curriculum and Assessment Review and Refresh Programme.
This is a hands‑on project management role responsible for the day‑to‑day planning, coordination, and delivery of assigned curriculum and assessment projects. Working in partnership with the Programme Manager, Curriculum Development who holds overall programme oversight, you will ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget, and to agreed quality expectations.
This multi‑year programme focuses on refreshing curriculum and assessment to be bicultural, inclusive, coherent, and easier to use, while aligning with national curriculum reform.
Projects may include work across:
- Review and refresh of Te Kura resource development principles, documentation, processes
- Literacy and Numeracy aligned to curriculum refresh and NCEA literacy and numeracy co‑requisites
- Integration of Mātauranga Māori across curriculum areas
- Early Childhood Education (ECE) transition pathways
- Te Ara Tipu, Te Ara Hou, Learning Support and 0–18 pathways
- Year 11–13 programmes aligned with NCEA change
- Te Ara Pounamu and assessment frameworks aligned to Te Kura's Big Picture curriculum
The role has a strong operational focus and plays a key part in enabling successful implementation of programme priorities through effective project management, stakeholder coordination, tracking, and reporting.
For this position, we offer a salary range starting from $90,000 to $120,000 per annum, with the final salary determined by skills, qualifications, and experience.

Essential
- Demonstrated experience delivering complex projects
- Strong planning, coordination, and organisational skills
- Clear and confident communication skills across a range of stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to agreed deadlines
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practice
Desirable
- Experience in education, curriculum development, or public sector environments
- Familiarity with large scale change or reform programmes
- Understanding of Mātauranga Māori and bicultural approaches
Ngā kawenga matua | Key responsibilities
Key accountabilities include:
- Delivering assigned projects aligned to Te Kura's ADDIE end‑to‑end curriculum development process (Analyse, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate)
- Translating programme milestones into clear, ADDIE‑aligned project plans and schedules
- Coordinating day‑to‑day project activity across curriculum teams, Subject Matter Experts, and Creative Services
- Tracking progress, risks, dependencies, and hand‑offs between ADDIE phases
- Providing regular, high‑quality project reporting to the Programme Manager and governance groups
- Supporting financial tracking and resource coordination for assigned projects
- Building strong working relationships across Te Kura and supporting clear communication of milestones and change impacts
- Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and supporting the embedding of agreed changes
- Modelling culturally responsive practice and supporting the integration of Mātauranga Māori and equity‑focused approaches
