Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu (Te Kura) is New Zealand's largest school with a roll of up to 24,000 ākonga (students) at any point of time. We provide personalised and authentic learning programmes through distance education from early childhood to NCEA Level 3, including to young adult and adult learners.

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this position:
The National Lead, Ākonga Hauora is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and embedding of national programmes, projects, and initiatives that strengthen Te Kura's long-term approach to ākonga wellbeing.
This role provides centralised leadership to operationalise key Ākonga Hauora initiatives across Te Kura. Working closely with the Learning Delivery Leadership Team, regional leadership, and wider kaimahi, the role ensures consistent, sustainable, and effective practices that improve wellbeing outcomes for all ākonga.
The position plays a critical role in shaping system-wide capability, embedding evidence-informed practice, and ensuring robust monitoring, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
The National Lead reports to the DCE Ākonga Hauora and contributes to the broader Ākonga Hauora Wāhanga.

We are looking for someone with:
- Understanding of and experience in ākonga development, wellbeing, and health and safety.
- Leadership experience in a complex education, health, or social services environment.
- Strategic thinking and analytical skills, including the ability to use data and research to inform successful implementation.
- Proven creative and innovative approach to delivery of outcomes.
- Successful leadership through a period of change or uncertainty.
- Ability to lead through influence with a collaborative approach.
- Proven exceptional stakeholder engagement skills across both internal and external stakeholders.
